Description

Crispy, crunchy, and completely addictive, these air fryer fried pickles make for a fun and easy appetizer. Perfectly golden and served warm, they're delicious dipped in remoulade sauce, chipotle sauce, or chipotle ranch dressing.

Ingredients

Pickles

  • 1 (16-ounce) jar dill pickle coins, drained

Breading

  • 1 egg
  • 1 cup panko breadcrumbs

Additional

  • Extra-virgin olive oil, for drizzling
  • Remoulade sauce, for dipping

Instructions

  1. Preheat the air fryer: Set your air fryer to 370°F and allow it to preheat while you prepare the pickles.
  2. Dry the pickles: Use a clean kitchen towel or paper towels to thoroughly pat the pickle coins dry to ensure the breading sticks well and becomes crispy.
  3. Prepare the breading stations: In a small bowl, whisk the egg until smooth. In a separate medium bowl, place the panko breadcrumbs ready for coating.
  4. Coat the pickles: Dip each pickle coin first into the whisked egg, then coat it evenly with the panko breadcrumbs. Place the coated pickles on a plate.
  5. Drizzle with olive oil: Lightly drizzle the breaded pickles with extra-virgin olive oil to promote crispiness during air frying.
  6. Air fry in batches: Arrange the pickles in a single layer inside the air fryer basket, ensuring there is space around each piece to allow hot air circulation. Avoid overcrowding. If needed, cook in batches.
  7. Cook until crisp: Air fry the pickles for 11 to 14 minutes or until they are crisp and golden brown. The timing may vary depending on your air fryer model.
  8. Serve: Remove the fried pickles promptly and serve immediately with remoulade sauce or your preferred dipping sauce.

Notes

  • Patting pickles dry is essential to prevent sogginess and help the breading stick better.
  • Do not overcrowd the air fryer basket; cook in batches for even crispiness.
  • Adjust cooking time slightly depending on your air fryer’s wattage and model.
  • For extra flavor, try serving with chipotle sauce or chipotle ranch dressing as alternatives to remoulade.
  • Use panko breadcrumbs rather than regular breadcrumbs for a lighter, crunchier texture.
