Description

These Asian Style Stuffed Mushrooms are a flavorful appetizer featuring button mushrooms filled with a savory mixture of ground pork, water chestnuts, green onions, garlic, ginger, and soy sauce, baked to juicy perfection. This easy-to-make dish combines traditional Asian flavors with a deliciously tender mushroom base, making it a perfect finger food for gatherings or a tasty snack.

Ingredients

Stuffed Mushrooms

  • 20 large white button mushrooms, stems removed and finely chopped
  • 8 ounces ground pork
  • 3/4 cup canned water chestnuts, finely chopped
  • 1/4 cup green onions, thinly sliced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon fresh ginger, grated
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon oyster sauce
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 cup panko breadcrumbs
  • 1 large egg, beaten
  • Cooking spray or 1 tablespoon vegetable oil for greasing

Instructions

  1. Prepare Mushrooms: Clean the mushrooms with a damp cloth and carefully remove the stems. Finely chop the stems and set aside for the filling.
  2. Mix Filling: In a mixing bowl, combine the ground pork, chopped mushroom stems, water chestnuts, green onions, garlic, ginger, soy sauce, oyster sauce, sesame oil, black pepper, panko breadcrumbs, and beaten egg. Mix thoroughly until all ingredients are well incorporated.
  3. Stuff Mushrooms: Spoon the filling mixture into each mushroom cap, pressing down slightly to ensure the filling adheres and fills the cavity completely.
  4. Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Lightly grease a baking sheet or line it with parchment paper.
  5. Bake Mushrooms: Arrange the stuffed mushrooms on the prepared baking sheet, spacing them evenly. Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes or until the filling is cooked through and the mushrooms are tender.
  6. Serve: Remove from oven and let cool slightly before serving. Garnish with additional sliced green onions or a drizzle of soy sauce if desired.

Notes

  • You can substitute ground chicken or turkey for ground pork for a leaner option.
  • For a spicier kick, add a teaspoon of chili paste or red pepper flakes to the filling.
  • To make the recipe gluten-free, use gluten-free soy sauce and breadcrumbs.
  • These stuffed mushrooms can be prepared ahead of time and baked just before serving.
