Description
A vibrant and refreshing Christmas Citrus Salad featuring a colorful mix of clementines, oranges, apples, pomegranate seeds, and kiwis, tossed in a zesty honey-lime dressing with a hint of vanilla and crunchy poppy seeds, perfect for festive gatherings.
Ingredients
Fruit
- 5 clementines, peeled and separated
- 2-3 large oranges, peeled and separated
- 2 apples, cored and thinly sliced
- Seeds of 1 large pomegranate
- 3 kiwis, peeled and sliced
Dressing
- 4 tablespoons honey
- Juice of 2 limes
- Juice of 1 lemon
- ½ teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 tablespoon poppy seeds
Instructions
- Prepare the Fruit: Peel and separate the clementines and oranges into segments. Core and thinly slice the apples. Peel and slice the kiwis. Remove the seeds from the pomegranate. Combine all prepared fruit in a large serving bowl.
- Make the Dressing: In a small bowl or jar, combine the honey, lime juice, lemon juice, and vanilla extract. Stir or shake well until the honey is fully dissolved and the dressing is smooth.
- Toss the Salad: Pour the dressing over the mixed fruit in the serving bowl. Gently toss to evenly coat all the fruit with the dressing.
- Finish and Serve: Sprinkle the salad with the tablespoon of poppy seeds for a crunchy texture. Add extra poppy seeds on top if desired before serving.
Notes
- Use fresh, ripe citrus fruits for the best flavor and juiciness.
- If you prefer a less sweet salad, reduce the honey amount or substitute with a natural sweetener like agave syrup.
- For a nutty variation, add toasted walnuts or pecans on top before serving.
- This salad is best served fresh but can be refrigerated for up to 4 hours before serving.
- To avoid apple slices browning, toss them briefly in a little lemon juice before adding to the fruit bowl.
