Description
This Crab Rangoon Cheese Dip is a creamy, savory appetizer that combines the flavors of crab, cream cheese, and mozzarella with a hint of garlic and green onion. Served warm with crispy homemade wonton chips and topped with Thai sweet chili sauce, it's perfect for parties or cozy gatherings.
Ingredients
Dip
- 1 lb. cream cheese, softened
- 1/2 cup mayo
- 1/3 cup sour cream
- 2 garlic cloves, minced
- 4 green onions, sliced thin
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- 8 oz. imitation crab meat
- 1 1/2 cups mozzarella cheese, grated
- 2/3 cup Thai sweet chili sauce
Wonton Chips
- 12 oz. wonton wrappers, cut into triangles
- 2 tablespoons sesame seeds
- Olive oil spray
Instructions
- Prepare the Wonton Chips: Preheat your oven to 425°F (218°C) and line two sheet trays with parchment paper. Arrange the wonton triangles evenly across both trays. Lightly spray the wontons with olive oil spray and sprinkle sesame seeds evenly over them. Bake in the oven for 12 to 14 minutes until golden brown and crispy.
- Make the Crab Rangoon Dip: In a large mixing bowl, combine softened cream cheese, mayo, sour cream, minced garlic, sliced green onions, Worcestershire sauce, imitation crab meat, and grated mozzarella cheese. Mix thoroughly until all ingredients are well blended into a creamy mixture.
- Bake the Dip: Transfer the crab mixture into a 9x9 inch square or round baking dish, spreading it evenly. Reduce the oven temperature to 350°F (177°C) and bake the dip for 22 to 25 minutes until it is hot and bubbly around the edges.
- Finish and Serve: Remove the dip from the oven and spoon the Thai sweet chili sauce evenly over the top. Let the dip cool for at least 5 minutes before serving to allow it to set slightly. Serve warm with the crispy wonton chips for dipping.
Notes
- For best results, soften the cream cheese to room temperature before mixing.
- You can substitute imitation crab with fresh crab meat for a more authentic taste.
- To make the wonton chips extra crispy, make sure they are spread out in a single layer on the trays without overlapping.
- If you prefer a spicier kick, add some sriracha or chili flakes to the dip mixture.
- This dip can be prepared ahead of time and baked just before serving.
