Description
These crispy baked chicken wings are a healthier alternative to traditional fried wings, offering a deliciously crunchy texture without the grease. Easy to prepare and perfect for game day or any casual gathering, these wings are baked to perfection and can be served with your favorite sauces and dips.
Ingredients
Chicken Wings
- 1 ½ pounds chicken wings (about 20 fresh, not frozen)
- 1 tablespoon baking powder
- 1 teaspoon salt
- ¼ teaspoon pepper
Optional Sauces
- Teriyaki Sauce
- BBQ sauce
- Buffalo Wing Sauce
For Serving
- Celery sticks
- Ranch or blue cheese dressing
Instructions
- Preheat the Oven: Set your oven to 425ºF. Prepare a baking sheet by lining it with foil and coating the foil with non-stick cooking spray. For less greasy wings, place a wire rack on the baking sheet to elevate the wings.
- Dry the Wings Thoroughly: Ensure the wings have the tips removed and are separated into wingettes and drumettes if not already done. Use paper towels to pat the wings completely dry, which is key for crispiness.
- Coat the Wings: Combine baking powder, salt, and pepper in a zip-top bag. Add the wings to the bag and shake well to evenly coat each piece with the seasoning mixture.
- Bake the Wings: Arrange the coated wings on the wire rack or directly on the baking sheet. Bake for 30-40 minutes until the wings are golden brown and crispy, flipping them halfway through baking to ensure even crispness.
- Apply Sauce and Serve: Allow the wings to rest for a few minutes after baking, then brush on your choice of teriyaki, BBQ, or buffalo wing sauce if desired. Serve with celery sticks and ranch or blue cheese dressing for dipping.
Notes
- Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
- Reheat leftovers in the oven or air fryer to re-crisp the skin for best texture.
- Ensure wings are completely dry before coating to maximize crispiness.
- Using a wire rack while baking helps the heat circulate evenly, reducing grease buildup.
