Description
This easy homemade pizza sauce is ready in just 5 minutes using simple ingredients like garlic, olive oil, and dried herbs. It yields a flavorful and rich sauce perfect for 5 to 6 pizzas, with no cooking required before spreading on your pizza dough.
Ingredients
Pizza Sauce Ingredients
- 3 garlic cloves
- 1 (28-ounce) can whole peeled tomatoes, drained
- 1 (6-ounce) can tomato paste
- 3 tablespoons extra-virgin olive oil
- 1 tablespoon Italian seasoning
- 1 teaspoon sea salt
- ½ teaspoon cane sugar
- Freshly ground black pepper, to taste
Instructions
- Chop Garlic: In a food processor, place the garlic cloves and pulse until they are finely chopped to release their flavor evenly in the sauce.
- Combine Ingredients: Add the drained whole tomatoes, tomato paste, extra-virgin olive oil, Italian seasoning, sea salt, cane sugar, and several grinds of freshly ground black pepper into the food processor.
- Blend Sauce: Process the mixture until it becomes a smooth sauce, ensuring all ingredients are well combined. Taste and adjust seasoning as desired.
- Use or Store: Spread the sauce directly onto stretched pizza dough; there is no need to pre-cook the sauce. Store any leftover sauce in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 5 days, or freeze for up to 3 months.
Notes
- Draining the whole peeled tomatoes helps reduce excess liquid for a thicker sauce consistency.
- You can adjust the seasoning by adding more Italian herbs or garlic if preferred.
- The sauce is uncooked and designed to cook on the pizza crust in the oven.
- Store leftovers in the fridge up to 5 days or freeze for longer storage up to 3 months.
