Peanut Butter Frizzles are sweet and salty clusters combining crunchy peanut butter, crispy Fritos, and pretzel sticks, all enveloped in a luscious corn syrup and sugar mixture, then topped with chocolate pieces. These no-bake treats are perfect for snacking and easy to prepare with just a few simple ingredients.
Ingredients
Cluster Base
- 1 cup corn syrup
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1 cup crunchy peanut butter
- 10 oz. Fritos
- 1 1/2 cups pretzel sticks, broken into pieces
Topping
- 2 cups Hershey’s chocolate, broken into pieces
Instructions
- Combine Dry Ingredients: In a large bowl, mix together the Fritos and broken pretzel sticks until evenly combined. Set this mixture aside.
- Make the Syrup Mixture: In a saucepan over medium-high heat, combine the corn syrup and granulated sugar. Stir occasionally and bring to a boil.
- Add Peanut Butter: Remove the saucepan from heat once boiling and quickly whisk in the crunchy peanut butter until the mixture is smooth and well combined.
- Mix with Dry Ingredients: Pour the warm peanut butter syrup over the Fritos and pretzels mixture. Stir thoroughly with a wooden spoon to coat all pieces evenly.
- Form Clusters: Drop spoonfuls of the cluster mixture onto a sheet of wax paper to form individual clusters.
- Add Chocolate Topping: Press a piece of broken Hershey’s chocolate onto the top of each cluster while still warm.
- Cool and Store: Allow the clusters to cool completely until firm. Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to two weeks.
Notes
- This recipe contains gluten due to the pretzels and Fritos, so it is not gluten-free.
- Use crunchy peanut butter for added texture in the clusters.
- If Fritos are not preferred, other corn chips could be substituted but may alter texture and flavor.
- Ensure the clusters cool fully before storing to maintain their shape and texture.
- Store in a cool, dry place to prevent melting or sogginess.
