Description

These Philly Cheesesteak Sliders are a savory, crowd-pleasing appetizer or meal perfect for game day or gatherings. Made with tender shaved steak, sautéed onions and bell peppers, melted provolone cheese, and a flavorful buttery glaze atop soft Hawaiian rolls, they are baked to golden perfection for a melty, satisfying bite.

Ingredients

Sliders

  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 yellow onion, sliced
  • 1 green bell pepper, thinly sliced
  • 4 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1/2 lb fresh shaved steak
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 12 pack Hawaiian bread rolls
  • 12 thinly sliced provolone cheese slices
  • Kosher salt and freshly cracked black pepper, to taste

Glaze

  • 1/4 cup butter, melted
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried thyme
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar
  • 2 teaspoons Dijon mustard
  • 2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce

Instructions

  1. Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 350 ºF and prepare a 9x13 inch baking tray to assemble the sliders.
  2. Sauté Onions and Peppers: Heat olive oil in a sauté pan over medium heat. Add the sliced yellow onions and cook for 3 to 4 minutes until they start softening. Then add the sliced green bell peppers and minced garlic, cooking until the garlic just begins to brown. Remove the mixture from the pan and set aside.
  3. Cook the Steak: In the same pan used for the vegetables, add the fresh shaved steak. Season with kosher salt, freshly cracked black pepper, and garlic powder. Use a wooden spoon to break up the steak into smaller pieces as it cooks. Once browned and cooked through, remove from the pan.
  4. Prepare the Glaze: In a bowl, combine melted butter, dried thyme, brown sugar, Dijon mustard, and Worcestershire sauce. Mix well and set aside.
  5. Assemble the Sliders: On the bottom half of all the Hawaiian rolls placed in the 9x13 tray, layer evenly with slices of provolone cheese and half of the sautéed peppers and onions. Add all of the cooked steak on top, then add more slices of cheese followed by the remaining sautéed vegetables. Place the tops of the rolls over the sliders.
  6. Brush with Glaze: Liberally brush the entire surface of the assembled sliders with the prepared butter glaze, ensuring good coverage for flavor and browning.
  7. Bake: Place the assembled sliders in the preheated oven and bake for 15 to 18 minutes, or until the tops are golden brown and the cheese inside is melted and bubbly.
  8. Serve: Remove from oven, let cool slightly, slice into individual sliders, and serve warm. Enjoy your delicious Philly Cheesesteak Sliders!

Notes

  • Use fresh shaved steak for the best texture; deli-style thin slices are ideal.
  • Hawaiian rolls add a sweet contrast that complements the savory filling.
  • You can substitute provolone with American cheese for a creamier melt.
  • Make sure to brush the glaze evenly to get that perfect golden crust.
  • Leftovers can be stored in the fridge and reheated in the oven for best results.
