Description

Delight in a homemade Raspberry Cream Cheese Danish made with flaky crescent dough, smooth cream cheese, and a luscious raspberry filling, finished with a sweet vanilla glaze. Perfect for breakfast, brunch, or a special treat, these danishes combine ease and elegance in one delicious pastry.

Ingredients

For Danish:

  • 1 package Pillsbury crescent dough
  • 2 oz. cream cheese, softened
  • 1 tablespoon demerara sugar (raw sugar)
  • 1 egg yolk + 1 teaspoon water, for egg wash
  • 1/2 cup raspberry jam (seedless)
  • 1 cup fresh raspberries

For Glaze:

  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 tablespoon unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 tablespoon warm water
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/4 teaspoon kosher salt

Instructions

  1. Preheat and Prepare Baking Sheet: Preheat the oven to 400° F and line a sheet tray with parchment paper to prevent sticking and facilitate easy cleanup.
  2. Prepare Dough Base: Roll the crescent dough into an even rectangle on a clean surface. Spread the softened cream cheese evenly over the dough and sprinkle with demerara sugar to add a subtle crunch and sweetness.
  3. Prepare Raspberry Filling: In a bowl, gently mix the raspberry jam and fresh raspberries to coat the berries lightly, creating a chunky yet spreadable filling.
  4. Shape the Danishes: Cut the dough into 4 equal long strips. Twist each strip and form into a circular Danish shape. Brush each pastry with the egg wash mixture to promote browning and gloss during baking. Top the center of each Danish with the raspberry jam and raspberry mixture.
  5. Bake the Danishes: Place the shaped danishes on the prepared baking sheet and bake in the preheated oven for 18 to 20 minutes until the centers are set and the dough is golden and cooked through.
  6. Make and Apply Glaze: While the danishes bake, whisk together powdered sugar, melted unsalted butter, warm water, vanilla extract, and kosher salt until smooth. Once the danishes are warm from the oven, drizzle the glaze over the top and allow it to set for 10 minutes before serving.

Notes

  • Ensure the cream cheese is softened for easy spreading.
  • Use seedless raspberry jam for a smoother filling without seeds.
  • Allow the glaze to set completely for a better texture before serving.
  • Keep an eye on baking times as ovens may vary; danishes should be golden brown.
  • For added texture, sprinkle extra demerara sugar on top before baking.
