Description

This Sheet Pan Turkey and Stuffing recipe is a convenient and flavorful one-pan meal perfect for a cozy family dinner. Featuring tender turkey breast roasted atop a savory herb-infused bread stuffing, it combines classic holiday flavors with an easy preparation and cleanup process. Toasted bread cubes and fresh herbs create a deliciously moist stuffing base, while a spiced butter rub ensures the turkey stays juicy and flavorful throughout roasting.

Ingredients

For the Stuffing:

  • 8 cups bread of choice, cubed
  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter, softened
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 small white or yellow onion, diced
  • 2 ribs celery, diced
  • 1 teaspoon poultry seasoning
  • 2 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped
  • 1 tablespoon fresh herbs (sage, thyme, rosemary, or a combo), chopped
  • 1 1/2 cups chicken stock
  • Kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste

For the Turkey:

  • 2 tablespoons butter, softened
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 (2-lb) boneless, skin-on turkey breast

Instructions

  1. Preheat and prepare baking dish: Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C) and grease a 9x13-inch baking dish with butter or nonstick spray to prevent sticking.
  2. Toast bread cubes: Spread the bread cubes in a single layer on a baking sheet and toast in the oven until golden and crisp, about 10 minutes. Remove and set aside to cool slightly.
  3. Cook vegetables for stuffing: In a large pot or Dutch oven over medium-high heat, melt 4 tablespoons of butter. Add minced garlic, diced onion, and diced celery, cooking while stirring occasionally until vegetables are tender, about 4-5 minutes.
  4. Season and combine stuffing ingredients: Stir in poultry seasoning, chopped parsley, and fresh herbs if using. Remove from heat, then add toasted bread cubes. Season with kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper. Stir in 1 1/2 cups chicken stock until well combined, forming a moist stuffing mixture.
  5. Assemble stuffing in baking dish: Spread the stuffing mixture evenly in the prepared baking dish.
  6. Prepare turkey rub: In a small bowl, combine softened 2 tablespoons butter, minced garlic, brown sugar, salt, black pepper, paprika, and dried oregano, mixing well to create a flavorful paste.
  7. Apply rub to turkey: Gently lift the skin of the turkey breast and rub some of the butter paste underneath the skin and over the surface, coating the turkey evenly.
  8. Place turkey on stuffing and bake: Position the turkey breast on top of the stuffing mixture. Bake in the preheated oven until the turkey reaches an internal temperature of 165°F (74°C), approximately 45 minutes.
  9. Rest and serve: Remove from oven and let the turkey rest for a few minutes before slicing. Serve turkey slices alongside the stuffing for a complete meal. Enjoy!

Notes

  • For best results, use day-old or slightly stale bread for the stuffing to achieve optimal texture.
  • You can substitute chicken stock with vegetable broth for a lighter flavor or to accommodate dietary preferences.
  • If fresh herbs are unavailable, use an additional 1 teaspoon of dried herbs in place of fresh herbs.
  • Use a meat thermometer to ensure the turkey is properly cooked and safe to eat.
  • Leftover stuffing can be stored separately and reheated to maintain best texture.
