Ingredients
Pecan Milk Ingredients (makes about 4 latte servings)
- 1 cup raw pecans, soaked for at least 1 hour
- 3 cups filtered water
- 1 tablespoon maple syrup
- 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
- ¼ teaspoon cinnamon
- Pinch of sea salt
Latte Ingredients (per serving)
- 1 Pure Leaf Home Brewed Chai Tea pyramid tea bag
- 8 oz. pecan milk (from above)
- Ground cinnamon, optional, for dusting
Instructions
- Prepare the pecan milk: Drain and rinse the soaked pecans thoroughly. Add the pecans to a blender along with 3 cups of fresh filtered water, maple syrup, vanilla extract, cinnamon, and a pinch of sea salt. Blend on high until the mixture is completely smooth and creamy.
- Strain the pecan milk: Place a nut milk bag, cheesecloth, or fine mesh strainer over a large bowl. Pour the blended mixture into the bag and carefully twist and squeeze it to extract as much liquid as possible. Discard the nut pulp or save it for another use. Transfer the strained pecan milk into a clean 33-ounce bottle and chill it in the refrigerator until ready to make lattes.
- Steep the chai latte: For each serving, place one pyramid tea bag into a mug. Heat 8 ounces of the chilled pecan milk until boiling or steaming hot, then pour it over the tea bag. Allow the tea to steep for 3 to 4 minutes, then gently squeeze the tea bag to release remaining flavor and remove it from the mug.
- Serve and garnish: Optionally, sprinkle ground cinnamon on top for added warmth and flavor. Serve immediately and enjoy your creamy, aromatic Vanilla Pecan Milk Chai Latte.
Notes
- Soaking pecans for at least 1 hour softens them for a smoother milk; soaking overnight yields an even creamier texture.
- Store homemade pecan milk in the refrigerator for up to 3-4 days; shake well before using as separation may occur.
- Adjust sweetness by adding more or less maple syrup to taste.
- The nut pulp leftover from straining can be dried and used in baking or smoothies to reduce waste.
- For a hotter latte, gently warm the pecan milk on the stovetop or in a microwave before pouring over the tea bag.
